Artistic Positions in the Viehof Collection

April 15 - August 19, 2018

Curator: Christiane Maria Schneider

The exhibition POLYPHON brings together works by six artists represented in the Viehof Collection: Thomas Houseago, Kimsooja, Danh Vo, Marijke van Warmerdam, Corinne Wasmuht and David Zink Yi. These artists differ in terms of working approach and themes, employing painting, sculpture, installation, as well as film and video, and the exhibition unites and interrelates these independent voices. It simultaneously reflects on the aspects connecting the artists: a polyphonic way of thinking and encounter of cultures and ideas, providing perspective in a global world. The heart of the exhibition and its point of departure are provided by works from artists represented in the Viehof Collection, most of which were already acquired early in their artistic careers. This artwork is supplemented by more current pieces, some created specially for this exhibition.
